Day 4 in Berlin

On our forth day we kept walking around the city (of course ) and went to the Tiergarten and to the Reichstag to just enjoy the view. We got to take some beautiful and fun photos, and later we met with an old friend who we hadn’t seen since high school. Being a local, he took the role of tour guide for the rest of the day, which was amazing because we got to eat some great local comfort food and he showed us some more places we hadn’t visited yet.

We went looking for the famous mural of “The Kiss” that’s on the long part of what’s left of the wall because we had to have a photo with it! And after a great lunch and a long conversation we visited Schloss Charlottenburg, took some more beautiful photos, and finished the night with red wine and another long conversation.

It is very curious how life works: 3 Kolumbianer meeting again in Berlin, Germany after almost 10 years. We had an amazing time.

Day 2 and 3 in Berlin

On our second day in Berlin we decided to go to the German Film and Television Museum and walk around the city before the premiere of Deshora. The next day we had the entire day to keep exploring the city, so we went to the Dalí Museum, walked to Check Point Charlie and went inside the Mauermuseum.

We have to realize that The Berlin Wall was taken down not so long ago, and trying to imagine the conflict all those people had to live through is just mind boggling. This city is so full of culture and history it absorbs you and makes you want to understand more about society. It also makes you appreciate the present and at the same time it makes you want to fight for progress. If Germany was capable of doing so much in so little time, I am sure every nation in the world has the potential to become a great country.

To cleanse or not to cleanse…

I’ve always been obsessed with what I eat and what it does (or doesn’t do) to me. I eat what I eat mostly because I love food, all kinds of food! But I am also aware of my health and I try to be good to my body. I can’t deny that, like most women, I am always worrying about how I look and that includes being concerned about my weight, but I have learned that the number 1 thing we should really worry about is our health.

I began to read a lot about nutrition, healthy diets, vegetarianism, gluten free diets, cleansing diets, fasting, etc, and I came to the conclusion that nutrition is personal and you should really listen to your body; it will tell you exactly what you should and shouldn’t eat.

So, I decided to try a cleanse. I figured it was a good way to let my body rest from all the yummy-but-not-so-healthy foods I’ve been eating, and it would give me a steady routine to settle my mind in.

Yesterday I completed my first week of cleansing, which I believe to be the toughest one, and I wanted to share photos of some of the dishes I’ve been preparing. I am taking the recipes from Whole Living Magazine and I’ve been following their January Issue’s Action Plan. All the dishes are super tasty and, if you are into cleansing diets, I really recommend this one. I feel fantastic and I’m thrilled for week number 2!

The Colleen Project: Colleen

Today I spent the day going through a lot of work, old and new, trying to figure out what to add to my portfolio. It was refreshing to go back and take a look at a good chunk of my history as an artist, and I got to dust off a few pieces worth of publication. In that pile of forgotten work I came across this piece that I very much enjoy. This is my friend Colleen and this is how I see her. Yes, she is a gorgeous fairy tale creature who never ceases to show her true colors, even when the weather turns gray and gloomy.

Double Self in Violet

Double Self in Violet

I am going to try to use this blog more. It feel weirder and weirder using Facebook and Instagram to post my work directly. I don’t really know what to think anymore.

This is a photo made using only my iPhone. Post production and all. Art on the go. Got to love it!

Percussionist in Red

Álvaro is part of the emerging music group I am photographing, and I chose him to be my guinea pig. 😉

All post-production was inspired by the ideas and comments of the band members about the visual aesthetics they want to give to the group. I hope they like my proposal. 🙂

Photoshoot Jam with a String Quartet

A couple of weeks ago I had the great pleasure to photograph a very talented string quartet. They are part of an emerging Video Game Music group, and I am thrilled to be part of their journey by photographing them.

This is amazing and gorgeous violin player Tomoko.

Thank you for the beautiful music.

More photos of the rest of the quartet to come.
