Today I spent the day going through a lot of work, old and new, trying to figure out what to add to my portfolio. It was refreshing to go back and take a look at a good chunk of my history as an artist, and I got to dust off a few pieces worth of publication. In that pile of forgotten work I came across this piece that I very much enjoy. This is my friend Colleen and this is how I see her. Yes, she is a gorgeous fairy tale creature who never ceases to show her true colors, even when the weather turns gray and gloomy.
This drawing is the result of the combination of an admissions essay question and Muse’s The 2nd Law. It is interesting to see that this is what I’m choosing to represent myself, but my artistic process is very chaotic and subconsciously driven, and trying to control the outcome would mean cheating myself. So here it is. This is who I am.
I am going to try to use this blog more. It feel weirder and weirder using Facebook and Instagram to post my work directly. I don’t really know what to think anymore.
This is a photo made using only my iPhone. Post production and all. Art on the go. Got to love it!

A couple of weeks ago I had the great pleasure to photograph a very talented string quartet. They are part of an emerging Video Game Music group, and I am thrilled to be part of their journey by photographing them.
This is amazing and gorgeous violin player Tomoko.
Thank you for the beautiful music.
More photos of the rest of the quartet to come.
These images are part of phase-number-one of The Colleen Project, as I am calling it since it was because of Colleen that I started it. I don’t really know how many phases there will be, but this project, if successful, will be part of a series of images born from itself, which means that it is thought to be the beginning of a bigger project, and every big idea morphs and evolves as the artist solves the problems she encounters.
It took me a little more than 2 weeks to come to a comfortable place with these images, and now I believe I can move on to the next phase. This is why I am posting them, and because the finished result is so far from what you can see right now, Colleen and the rest of the world are going to see these photographs for the first time at the same time (I hope you are OK with this, Colleen (These are far from finished. I promise.). ).
Best,
– Cat
